For over 460 years, The Windmill Inn has stood as a landmark in the heart of Linton. Dating back to 1564, our pub has seen centuries of change while remaining a pillar of the local community. What started as a traditional village pub has now evolved into a destination for good food, real ales, and warm hospitality—all without losing the charm and authenticity that makes us a true local favourite.
Every corner of our pub is steeped in history, from the original stone floors to the rustic beams that have witnessed centuries of conversation and laughter. Our mission is to honour that legacy while delivering an elevated yet down-to-earth experience where everyone feels at home.
Our Vision: Welcoming Tradition with Warm and Friendly Service
We envision The Windmill Inn as a place where the heart and soul of a true Yorkshire pub are always alive and well. That means keeping the warmth, the friendly atmosphere, and the genuine sense of community that has defined us for centuries. Our goal is to remain a welcoming spot where locals and visitors alike feel at home, whether they're here for a quick pint or a long weekend.
Our Commitment: Quality without Compromise
At the same time, we strive to deliver an experience that meets modern expectations without sacrificing the traditional charm we’re known for. From our seasonal menu, crafted with high-quality, locally sourced ingredients, to the friendly service provided by our dedicated team, we are committed to offering the best of both worlds—classic pub hospitality and exceptional quality.
We embrace our roots by maintaining the traditional charm of a historic pub while adapting to modern needs. It's important to us that every guest feels they’re stepping into a space that’s both timeless and relevant.
Our philosophy is simple: a proper pub should always be warm and welcoming. We want every guest to feel like they’re part of our community from the moment they walk in.
While we aim to stay true to our heritage, we also focus on delivering high-quality food and drink. The kitchen, led by our head chef Craig Gallimore, carefully crafts each dish, ensuring that taste and presentation meet the highest standards.
Wherever possible, we source ingredients locally, supporting nearby farms and businesses. It’s our way of staying connected to the land and contributing to the health of our environment and community.
We’re always looking for ways to improve, whether that’s through our menu, service, or the experience we offer. Feedback from our guests is at the core of what helps us grow and continue to meet expectations.
Introducing our head chef, Craig Gallimore, a culinary master with over 35 years of experience. Craig's passion for food was inspired by his Italian grandmother, and he’s a third-generation chef who has worked in kitchens across the globe, from Michelin-starred restaurants to luxury hotels. His journey began at Westminster Catering College, the same school as Jamie Oliver, and he’s since earned numerous accolades, including Rosettes and Michelin awards.
At The Windmill Inn, Craig brings his world-class expertise to create a menu that blends traditional British favourites with creative, modern dishes. His dedication to fresh, local ingredients and seasonality ensures a dining experience that honours the legacy of our historic pub.
Whether you're here for an indulgent meal or a relaxing stay, we offer a perfect blend of history, good food, and friendly service. You can come and experience it for yourself.
